KultureCity first originated in the USA, and has been in Australia for a few years now. Its focus is on making the nevers possible for people with sensory needs.
In schools, they run annual certification training seminars, which are video modules that only take about an hour or so with a short quiz to follow (the three steps are set out below). They provide backpacks for children with visual aids, sensory aids and headphones.
The certification process for the school is 3-fold, as demonstrated below.
Certification Process for Schools
Step 1
50% of student facing staff must participate in the annual training. This consists of an online training video, running between 40-50 minutes, available on the KultureCity LMS portal. They then must answer 10 quiz questions. A score above 80% is required to pass.
Step 2
The school will be provided with 5 sensory bags, 1 weighted lap pad and 4 type signage for display around the school (e.g., to acknowledge the sensory bags and that the school is KultureCity certified, etc).
Step 3
KultureCity will assist the school to develop social stories for the school and the App will be updated for the school.
How Much Does This Cost?
The cost is $1,110 and then there is an annual renewal fee of $750.
Spectrum Lawyers are offering sponsorship packages. Five schools will be selected for certification with all costs covered by Spectrum Lawyers.
